Knicks - The little puppy that could.
Knicks is my new best buddy. He was going to be terminated at the LB Animal
Shelter because there was no interest in him. A friend had asked us to get
involved and possibly rescue him. After seeing his adorable personality we
snatched him up. He came home and became a very sick puppy rather quickly. We
quarantined him from Kadin (my lovable 2 year old dog) and took him to the Vet.
After tests and lab work and many prods and pokes he had a list of symptoms.
Waiting on the results our worst fear became Distemper. Knicks and I are very
much attached so I could not imagine losing my new best buddy to any horrible
illness. He and I spend every day together and he is my own therapy dog. But I
did realize that if it was Distemper I would have to put him down. When we got
the results it became less clear as to what his illness truly is. He was
positive for Distemper and has some symptoms but it is not 100%. So my decision
is to push on and look for additional treatment. I believe it is not Distemper
but a False Positive from his vaccinations. Only time will tell. In the meantime
I am asking for some help from my friends. We have decided to sell Survival
Bracelets in the hopes to offset some Puppy Healthcare costs so we can continue
to support Knicks. I know with everything going on a puppy may not mean a hill
of beans in the grand scheme of things but to me he means hope. He matters very
much to me and to those he has touched. We all can change his world for the
better. So we embark on this journey and will share his progress with all that
